Derek Jeter's Defensive Win Shares - A Complete Turnaround

Last season Jeter had something like 1.5 Defensive Win Shares ALL SEASON. Granted he was injured for part of the season, but that is ATROCIOUS for a shortstop. Well, this year, according to David Pinto's Sortable Win Shares Derek Jeter is tied for 2nd in the American League with 4.2 Defensive Win Shares (Christian Guzman has 4.4, and Michael Young has 4.2). Pretty amazing, eh?

Congrats to Jeter for his improvement in the field this year.

(David Pinto's original post on the Sortable Win Shares is here and the statistics come from the Hardball Times right here.)
