Contreras' wife & daughter escape Cuba to the US
Contreras' wife and daughter apparently snuck out of Cuba
and made it to the US.
Jose Contreras' family defected from Cuba this week, and the New York Yankees pitcher left the team Tuesday and traveled to Miami to reunite with his wife and two daughters.
"He's ecstatic beyond anything anyone could imagine," Conteras' agent, Jaime Torres, told ESPN. "What the lady did is very strong. She did not give up."
Miriam Murillo-Flores, who married Contreras in 1988, and their girls Naylan, 11, and Naylenis, 3, fled Cuba with about 20 others a few days ago before they landed in the Florida Keys early Tuesday morning.
Jose left the Yankees to join his family in Miami. Good news for the Contreras family. Congratulations!
