ARod forgoing endorsements
It looks like ARod is passing on the many endorsements
that are flooding in on him since his move to the Yankees.
"The strategy is just to play baseball right now," Rodriguez said. "I want to really limit myself to anything I do off the field, and really focus on the field. I think everything else will take care of itself."
"Alex, this year, will focus on baseball and see what New York and the city has to offer," said Lisa Gilson, Rodriguez's personal assistant. "He'll make sure that the choices he makes still facilitate baseball. That evolution will be quite slow."
Rodriguez can be more than a salesman. Now that he has the Yankees' brand behind him, he can be his own brand.
"I think the best brand that I can bring for myself is, we're talking about world champions. Being the best player I can be," Rodriguez said. "The other way doesn't work for me."
Of course this is a great idea for him. He can concentrate on his new job and he won't look like he's a money-hungry grub looking for a few extra bucks. And this will help him keep a lower profile (if that's possible) in the Jeter-ARod thing that will continue all year (and probably longer).
