Carew returns to Twins
Apparently Rod Carew is back in Minnesota
"Carew, who played 12 of his 19 major-league seasons with the Twins, will assist the business department, working on corporate partnerships, community affairs and broadcasting. He was last a member of the organization in February 1979, when he was traded to the California Angels."
I remember Rod Carew, but mostly with the Angels. Some interesting facts about Rod Carew:
- He rocked.
- All Star for 18 consecutive seasons - every year he played except his final season
- Led the league in Batting Average 7 times, with a high of .388
- Career BA of .328 - 35th highest ever, right above Honus Wagner and right below Wade Boggs
- Was born in Gatun, (Panama) Canal Zone
And somewhere around here, I have a really old Rod Carew baseball card from his younger days as a Twin. I should try and dig that up sometime.
